Recently we have produced a hybrid small series tool for one of our customers in the truck industry. Hybrid meaning we have combined steel and aluminium for the most cost effective solution while still guaranteeing the required part quality needed for serial production.
The cavity side is made out of steel due to the high gloss surface finish needed on the part. Due to the low volume the core side is made out of aluminium.
These high gloss parts can be fitted directly onto the vehicle without any further surface finishing!
